CESA and UAE Strengthen Relationships

Commercial relationships between Colombia and the United Arab Emirates have strengthened in the last few years. In 2012 Colombia opened an Embassy in the UAE, lead by Ambassador Roberto Vélez Vallejo and a year later, the UAE opened an Embassy in Bogotá, one of the few in Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico), under the leadership of Ambassador Mohammed Elissa Alzaabi.

Last December 1st, Henry Bradford Sicard, CESA’s Dean, attended a reception to mark the UAE 43rd National Day hosted by the UAE Embassy in the Colombian capital, Bogotá. Colombia's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Patti Londoño, a group of Colombian political, cultural, media, sports and medical personalities as well as representatives of Colombian ministries, the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives attended the event, during which documentaries on the UAE development and progress were screened.

“It was a very interesting and productive meeting. As CESA School of Business, we continue to strengthen our relationship with the UAE and hope to continue generating academic ties between both countries” Dean Bradford assured.

Ambassador Alzaabi also presented World Expo 2020 Dubai to the Colombian community, a mega-event that will attract an estimate of 25 million visitors during a period of 6 months. The Expo’s theme will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and it will operate around the belief on the power of partnership and collaboration in pioneering new paths of development and innovation.

“UAE has turned into a business and commerce hub, a very sought-after country by foreigners. It is very important for CESA School of Business to maintain close relationships,” Bradford explained.

CESA School of Business has traveled for 3 years in a row to Abu Dhabi and Dubai as part of the international corporate visits program for students and alumni. “This opens doors for internships and academic exchanges between both countries, I’m sure we will continue to send students in 2015 because UAE is one of the most important international destinations for CESA” Bradford added.
